PCN members are individuals who contribute their skills with and knowledge of communication strategy, framing and messaging, and media tools to: 1) enhance the influence of social change movements on public policy and opinion; and 2) realize a world without poverty, racism, and other forms of oppression. They support the Network’s work to strengthen and amplify the power, voices, and vision of grassroots movements that are working for racial, social, economic, and environmental justice.
Members – Participants at this level are working communicators who want to be connected to and learn more about the Network

Eligibility:
- Some work / volunteer time is spent supporting communications of grassroots organizations / communities of struggle.
- Complete a brief application describing work, affiliations, and alignment with PCN’s mission and values.
- Pay sliding scale dues equivalent to from 1 hour to 1 day’s worth of what is earned from communication work.

Working Members – Members of this group have participated in a Network event and decided that they want to make a greater commitment of time and service to the Network. They have the highest level of participation in the Network through their service in PCN working groups and committees as well as providing pro-bono services to grassroots organizations and change efforts. The Network’s governing body, the Leadership Council, is drawn from this group. Working members actively participate in direction setting for the Network through giving their ideas and feedback via conversations, surveys, and “business meetings” at national gatherings.
Benefits:
- Priority for travel funds for gatherings.
- Participate in Working Members listserv and/or Working Members events / conference calls.
- Post to the PCN website, including a listing in the PCN Member Directory.
- Can sign up and use the free conference call number for communications collaborations projects (have to clear and schedule with staff).
- High level of support from communication peers and PCN staff.
- Eligible to serve on PCN Leadership Council.
- Participate in setting the agenda and direction of the Network.
Eligibility:
- A significant percentage of work / volunteer time is spent on supporting the communications of grassroots organizations / communities of struggle.
- Share a vision of building a powerful, diverse, vibrant movement for change and are willing to collaborate with others to make that happen.
- Attend a PCN gathering (either national or working group event, for example).
- Pay sliding scale dues equivalent to from 1 hour to 1 day’s worth of what is earned from communication work.
- Pledge 1 – 4 days / 8 – 32 hours of pro-bono time to the Network and/or its projects.
