Community Media Workshop is based in Chicago and its focus is on the greater Chicago area. Many of the tools found on their website are applicable to anyone doing media as part of their work.

From the website:

About the Nonprofit Communicator, Community Media Workshop blog portal

"This site was created for both practical purposes for our organization to extend our mission into the new capabilities of the social web, but more importantly provide a space online for grassroots leadership, journalists and nonprofit communicators to keep informed about local news, acquire helpful tips and resources, and to participate in developing a community online that promotes the work we all do on the ground."

About Community Media Workshop:

"The Community Media Workshop, founded by a journalist, Hank De Zutter, and a community activist, Thom Clark, is a small institution trying to link the two Chicagos by encouraging the media to tell the stories of the other Chicago, the oft-neglected neighborhoods and back streets of Chicago, where the problems are felt most deeply and where solutions are most likely to be born."
