Goals & Programs

First Goal: Strengthen communication infrastructure across the country.

Program: Organize regional chapters and develop alliances with existing networks that have a communication focus. Support chapters and partners in their activities and gatherings for people at all ends of the communication-role continuum and as a place where practical and regionally-appropriate skills building and strategy development can happen. Program: National gathering held annually for communicators focused on collaboration and movement building.

Second Goal: Foster new alliances and collaborations around communication work that leads to progressive movement building.

Program: Develop strategic collaborations with issue- and alliance-based communication projects. See Groups section for current information. [2]

Third Goal: Increase understanding of and support for strategic communication as a critical tool for progressive change making.

Program: Disseminate briefing papers on topics related to strategic communication and progressive change making. The Network’s latest briefing paper is Raise Every Voice: Strategic Communications & Progressive Change Making. [3]

Fourth Goal: Build the capacity of PCN as an organization that serves as a catalyst to connect progressive communicators.

Program: General membership is open to working communicators who want to be connected to and learn more about the Network. Communicators may wish to become Working Members of the Network by serving on Network committess, working group, in leadership of regional / affiliates, or by donating time to grassroots organizations.
